Easter Sunday - A Grand Re-Opening

Genesis 3
John 20:1–18
Reflection: On Easter we of course remember that moment when Mary Magdalene and the disciples found Jesus’s tomb wide open. Not to be missed in this story, though, is the beautiful detail that the tomb was in a “new” garden – where no one had ever before been buried. This garden reminds us of another – the garden of Eden where scripture tells us humanity first fell to sin – and from where we had to leave - for a while. That garden was closed shut - but - it wasn’t the end of the story for us. The Resurrection is the grand re-opening of the garden in which we may now live and have our being in Jesus our savior. Let’s consider both gardens this Easter, with a focus on the new life possible for us all in our risen Lord.
