Passage: Mark 9:2-9

Scripture for Sunday, Feb 11, 2024

John 1: 1-5; 14; Mark 9: 2-9

Reflection: This week (as we always do the Sunday before Ash Wednesday) we will go - alongside Peter, James and John - up onto the mountain of “transfiguration” where Jesus will be changed before our very eyes. Blinded by a dazzling light coming out from Him as He stands between Elijah and Moses, perhaps we - like Peter - may be tempted to set up a tent and stay a while. Honestly – that’s not a bad idea. In the rush of life might it not be good for any one of us to slow down and take in all that the light of Jesus offers to us? Might it do us all some good to “tent” down with Him and not let any moment we’re given to bask in His glory pass us by? Shouldn’t every disciple of Jesus be just as eager as Peter to obey God’s command to “listen” to Him every chance we get? Let’s take time on Sunday to do just that – but don’t wait until then. Take time now, today, every day to “tent” down and listen to Jesus. I hope to see you on Sunday. Bring a friend!

Peace,
