Repeat the Sounding Joy
December 12, 2021 | Mark Piedmonte
Passage: Philippians 3:10-16
This week, among other musical offerings, we will sing Joy to the World! Now, I know what you’re thinking: Ahem, Pastor Mark, you said we weren’t going to sing any Christmas hymns until Christmas Eve. Well, that’s true – because guess what? Joy the World isn’t a Christmas tune. It’s become one for us, to be sure. With its triumphant intro, often played on trumpets, who doesn’t immediately think of Christmas? But the song itself was never meant to just be sung this season – it was written as an expression of our Joy in knowing Jesus Christ – every everyday of our lives.
