Unending Fuel Supply

Passage: Isaiah 40:1-10
Reflection: What if I told you that our church has received a great gift – an unlimited fuel supply! Wouldn’t this come as wonderful surprise? (Especially since it’s been so cold day and night?)
Well – we have been given such a gift – but… it’s not the kind of fuel that goes into the furnace. (I’m sorry to say that we still have to pay for that!) The fuel gift we have been given, though, is the fuel of our Baptism; that is, the waters that forever connect us to Jesus and keep us moving forward as a community of believers.
This week we will look at two scriptures – one takes us right into the waters of Baptism with Jesus; the other is a song which inspired Him to take on His mission as God’s son.
Taken together, we may ask: How do the waters of Baptism fuel our call - as individual and as a church – to be servants of God working toward justice for all? It is not proper, after all, for us to do this so that we may fulfill all righteousness – as we share in our Baptism together with Him?
Think about it. Pray about it. Read God’s word, and then, let’s remember our baptisms this week as we seek the Spirit’s guidance in being the light of Christ and declarers of the new things God is doing in the world.
