Inside Out

Exodus 34:29–35 Luke 9:28–43 Reflection: We always come to the threshold of Lent with a reading and reflection on the “Transfiguration” – the moment when Peter, James and John go up onto the mountain and Jesus is "transfigured" before them. That is – they see what’s inside of Jesus and what He’s really made of. As He stands between Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the Prophets – Jesus’s face shines a light so bright all they can feel is awe. And in that light, they hear the voice of God saying: Listen to Him! Lent is a time to look and see deeply all that Jesus is for us – and to listen intently to His call to us to love God with our whole selves – and our neighbors as ourselves. And it is a time to look inside and discern what’s maybe getting in the way of our walking fully in His light.
